About Me

Lisa Pryor found her passion for working with teens during her internship. She has worked in many different settings including inpatient hospitals, residential, and IOP. Lisa received her degree from the University of Phoenix. She was told during school that she was not going to be a normal therapist. Over the years Lisa has leaned into that. Lisa identifies as a Disney Adult, Potter Head, and all-around geek. She is fluent in video game terms, Disney song lyrics, and light saber colors. When Lisa is not in the office, she is focused with her needle work, finding therapy ideas in movies and spending time with her fur-babies. She is married to a software engineer jedi.

The idea that would not go away

Pop Culture Counseling started as the idea that would not go away. When I first started thinking about starting my own private practice the name Pop Culture Counseling continued to pop into my head. But there was no way that it would be available as a business name, someone must have it already. I was wrong and here we are.

Mission Statement

What you do, How you do it, Why you do it

At Pop Culture Counseling we strive to meet the client where they are and use what they love to help them build skills. We use evidence-based modalities, such as DBT, CBT, and experiential learning. We also use pop culture (roll credits), geek speak, and media to better teach therapeutic concepts. At Pop Culture Counseling we love helping teens and young adults become the person they want to be one level at a time.
